Aric-Perminter-Awards-Lynx-Scholarship-to-Stephanie-CarterNew York, NY— April 11, 2016At the Inaugural International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals event, Lynx Technology Partners awarded the first $5,000 educational endowment from the Lynx Technology Partners Foundation to help talented women and minority students advance in their cybersecurity studies. The award was presented to  Stephanie Carter, a 20-year Army Veteran and single mother, and will enable her to continue her cybersecurity studies and earn certifications to help launch her career in Cybersecurity.

“We are honored to award this scholarship to Stephanie,” said Aric K. Perminter, Founder and Chairman of Lynx Technology Partners. “We need more people like Stephanie, who have the passion, work ethic, and desire to change the world by leading the next generation of Cybersecurity Professionals.”

While the original intent of the Scholarship Endowment was to provide funding to undergraduate education, Stephanie’s qualifications and drive allowed her to shine and receive the award to support her dual Master’s Degrees in Cybersecurity.

“I aim to empower and transform the Cybersecurity Community and the world.  I aim to restore the confidence loss and build new assurance in Cybersecurity and Technology.  I can do that without earning an education in Cybersecurity; however, I need for the community to trust me.  To earn trust at first glance, I need to have leading industry security certifications and education,” wrote Stephanie in her scholarship application. “After that trust is earned, my passion and performance to deliver on the services I promised will speak for themselves.”

Stephanie has already earned her Doctor of Computer Science with a Masters in Information Systems Security and Bachelors in Software Engineering.  She is also currently enrolled in the UMUC Master of Science in Cybersecurity Program and has already earned IT certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO, and (ISC)² SSCP.  She passed the December 2015 CISM exam.  Her academic goals are to finish successfully her dual Master’s Program with UMUC in Cybersecurity and Business Administration with honors, test for the CISA Certification in June 2016 and earn the CISSP and HCISSP by 2017.  Although her original goal was to earn her CISSP by 2017, through the ICMCP Conference and a free exam voucher from the ISC2 CEO, she will be testing for CISSP this month.  She is also currently working on a framework to align Cybersecurity and Strategic Alignment functions with recognized models such as NIST, COBIT, ITIL, and ISO that is translatable in the Business and IT Community in an attempt to gain a greater understanding of Cybersecurity and Strategic Alignment.  One of Stephanie’s quotes that she lives by is, “You can only achieve true transformation when you seek to empower the powerless.  You can only empower when you seek to transform yourself!”
